Grief & Bereavement
Loss of any kind is something that is difficult to cope with. It is a life changing event. The loss of a loved one is something that is especially difficult to deal with. Grief is the normal response to loss. It is completely understandable for there to be a mourning process and some time to be needed for you to go through this process.
Talking about it with friends and family can sometimes not be enough. They may be too close to the situation to understand your unique feelings and thoughts about your loss. For that reason, it is important to seek help if needed to process your grief in a healthy and constructive way. Grief that isn’t dealt with in a healthy way can lead to several problems in relationships and other aspects of your everyday life.
Bereavement is a natural part of life, however it is not an easy part regardless of how much you think you have prepared yourself. Empathy is sometimes just not enough from those that surround you. Support can only go so far. Seeking support from a therapist like myself will allow for an examination of your grief. This examination will allow for a healthy grieving process. There is also hope for those who are consumed by their grief. Processing your feelings and emotions will allow for you to better understand your grief and learn to cope in constructive, rather than destructive, ways.
